Things to Know About Fujiiryoki Massage Chairs

3 models€3,995 to €11,000

Fujiiryoki In 1954, the company built the world’s first mass-produced massage chair in Osaka. That first model is now considered part of Japan’s industrial heritage. Development and manufacturing take place primarily in Japan, though some models are made in China. From a corporate standpoint,Fujiiryoki is part of Johnson Health Tech of Taiwan, but operates as a separate brand. Read the full story in the guide: Who invented the massage chair?

The JP4000, the top-of-the-line model

The JP4000 uses a mechanism with two balls instead of the usual four. That may sound like fewer, but it’s the secret to its precision: Two shaped heads fit into the narrow groove between the shoulder blades, where four side by side simply wouldn’t fit. Fujiiryoki has been refining this principle for over twenty years.

Before the massage begins, the chair detects the position of the arms, scans the spine, and identifies up to 8 points to be targeted. During the session, the control system continuously adjusts the technique and intensity; Fujiiryoki calls this 5D. In total, there are 98 massage techniques available—compared to 53 in the predecessor model, the JP3000. In addition, there are 40 automatic programs, 12 intensity levels for the massage arms, and 7 for the air cushions.

The rollers run along a flexible track that follows the curve of the back. There are 13 stretching programs, ranging from full-body stretches to targeted stretches for the hips and lower back, during which air cushions gently pull the pelvis from side to side. The device provides heat in three zones that can be activated individually: back, abdomen, and feet.

Is this armchair right for you?

The JP4000 is designed for people between 140 and 195 cm tall, supports up to 140 kg, and accommodates shoulders up to 60 cm wide. When upright, it is 124 cm high, 85 cm wide, and 141 cm deep; when extended, it measures 212 cm in length. It weighs 96 kg. We offer a 5-year warranty on the chairs, including on-site service.

In addition to the JP4000, we carry the MR6000 Calm Plus, which is one level below it.

We explain what 2D, 3D, and 4D really mean when it comes to reels—complete with a video—in our guide: The Difference Between 2D, 3D, and 4D.

Further down, you’ll find older Fujiiryoki armchairs, such as the Cyber Relax EC-3900. Owners can check the dimensions and features there. If you’re replacing an old unit with a new one, we’ll apply a credit toward the purchase.

Try it for yourself

It’s hard to describe just how precisely a two-ball mechanism works, but it’s easy to experience. You’ll feel the difference between your shoulder blades—within the first few minutes. The chairs are on display in our showrooms: Come try them out and test them for yourself.
