Fit & Comfort Recommendations
We no longer carry Panasonic products in our lineup. This page displays our archive; you cannot place orders here, but the information remains available for reference. The reason Panasonic left Europe is explained in the Panasonic overview. To see what we currently carry, go to " Massage Chairs."
Do you own an EP-MA70? When you buy a new armchair, we'll take your old one in exchange: old for new (trade-in).
Panasonic MA70 Real Pro Hot Stone
You sit down and press a button. The chair moves back until your legs are slightly above heart level. Then the rollers scan your back once, from your cervical spine to your pelvis, and note where your shoulders are.
What sets the MA70 apart from most other recliners is that its massage heads are self-heating—in the backrest and under the feet. This means the heat moves along with the roller.
Heated rollers instead of a heating mat
In many recliners, the heat is contained in a pad in the lower back area and stays there. With the MA70, the heating elements are built into the massage heads. This means the heat is always directed to the area currently being massaged—the back and the soles of the feet. It can be turned on and off independently of the massage function.

Massage Techniques
The MA70 features six types of motion. Here's what that means, explained in plain language rather than technical terms:
- Shiatsu: The rollers apply pressure to specific points and hold it briefly before moving on.
- Deep-tissue massage: The same technique, but with significantly more pressure applied to the muscles.
- Junetsu: Small, quick circles in one spot, for specific points on the shoulders and back.
- Kneading massage: Two rollers grip the tissue between them and then release it. Shoulders, neck, lower back.
- Tapping massage: Rapid, successive taps, as if using the edge of the hand.
- Roller massage: The rollers move up and down along the spine without applying excessive pressure.
You can adjust the pressure yourself, from barely noticeable to strong.

The Stretching Program
Air cushions in the seat and backrest inflate one after the other, supporting your pelvis and pulling your upper body against it. This stretches your lower back without you having to do anything. The program runs continuously and is most noticeable if you’ve been sitting for a long time beforehand.

The Body Scan
Before the massage begins, the rollers rise slowly once. Pressure sensors record shoulder height and the contour of the spine. The rollers then operate two finger-widths away from the spine, starting at your shoulder—not above it and not below it. For two people with a 20-centimeter difference in height, this is exactly what determines whether a chair will fit.

Who the MA70 Is Designed For
- For Those Who Sit All Day: A Stretching Routine for the Pelvis and Lower Back
- For those who do physical labor: tapping and deep tissue massage with firm pressure
- For those looking for warmth: heated rollers for your back and under your feet
- If you want to keep it simple: the automatic programs are assigned to separate buttons on the remote control

How to Use It
The functions are located on the remote control, each with its own button and label. You can start an automatic program with a single press. If you wish, you can set the area, speed, and intensity yourself and save the settings to a preset.

In this position, the upper body and legs are aligned so that the legs rise slightly above heart level. The weight is distributed across the entire surface of the back rather than on the pelvis.

Replacement Parts and Service
Panasonic stopped selling massage chairs in Europe in 2025 and has since focused on North America and Asia. Spare parts are therefore available through the retailer where you made your purchase, as long as there are remaining stocks and service partners available. There has been no long-term commitment since the company’s withdrawal from the market. Please clarify whether a repair is possible on a case-by-case basis before spending any money.
