Hamburg, October 2025 – The wait is over: On Saturday, November 1, Massagesessel Welt will open Massagesessel Welt new location near Hamburg and cordially invites all those seeking relaxation and wellness enthusiasts to discover the largest selection of premium massage chairs in northern Germany. Visitors can expect to find 20 different models that they can test out for themselves and compare side by side—ensuring that everyone finds the perfect wellness and rejuvenation experience.

The new 200-square-meter showroom in Barmstedt-Heede near Hamburg brings together renowned brands such as Allgäuer Massagetechnik, Bodyfriend, Casada, Fujiiryoki, HUTECH Kai, KOYO, OHCO, OSIM, and Positive Posture under one roof for the first time in northern Germany. These world-renowned premium manufacturers are synonymous with Japanese innovation, American ergonomics, and elegant design. Featuring state-of-the-art 4D technology, sophisticated Shiatsu programs, and high-quality comfort features, the massage chairs offer unique wellness experiences—ranging from intense deep-tissue massage and the soothing zero-gravity position to sound therapy and targeted foot reflexology.

Wolfgang Wieandt, a native of Cuxhaven in northern Germany with more than ten years of experience in the massage chair industry, will head up the new location. “We’re finally bringing top-tier wellness to the north. Yes, that’s definitely possible! Many massage chairs can also be used as comfortable TV chairs. There’s a wide range of models and categories of massage chairs available. Some actually look just like regular chairs and blend seamlessly into the atmosphere of your living room. Just turn off the massage function, and you’ve got a cozy chair for relaxing and watching TV.

How much electricity does a massage chair use?

If any errors or problems arise, you can count on our support team to identify and resolve the issue. To do so, simply contact us by phone or email. If a repair is unavoidable, we’ll certainly take care of it and send our own service staff to your location.

Proper care and cleaning of your massage chair will ensure it lasts a long time. When it comes to cleaning, we distinguish between three areas.

The interior upholstery of the massage chair is usually made of synthetic or genuine leather. The initial light cleaning is done with a vacuum cleaner (to remove small particles and lint). We’re happy to recommend additional cleaning products in our video below this post.

The exterior of the armchair is often covered in plastic, including the areas around the calves and feet. For these surfaces, we recommend using a microfiber cloth with a glass cleaner. Do not use alcohol-based cleaners.

The third component is the remote control, or control unit. Please avoid using a microfiber cloth that is too wet on this part.

Your clothing should be light, loose, and comfortable during your wellness treatment in the massage chair. 

Before using the device, we also recommend removing keys, cell phones, and other items from your clothing. Jewelry can also get in the way.

A major advantage is that you can save valuable time, since you don’t have to make a special trip to a massage therapist. With the various functions available, you can select a treatment tailored to your needs and experience immediate relaxation. Blood circulation is stimulated,and tense and sore muscles are loosened. In addition, a massage chair usually requires only a 2x1 m space and, thanks to its stylish design, fits into almost any home.

Your own massage chair offers you a touch of luxury and total relaxation. But how do you gracefully settle into the massage chair?

It's very simple: To avoid damaging the mechanism, you'll usually need to take off your shoes. Now position yourself next to the massage chair and let your buttocks glide onto the seat. Pull your feet back, and position your arms and upper body. And just like that, you're ready to start your favorite program.

Which technology is better?

For a human-like, personalized massage, a 3D or 4D massage chair is the best choice.

While a 2D massage chair operates along the X and Y axes, a 3D massage chair operates along the X, Y, and Z axes. This massage technology was developed to give you the feeling that a person is massaging you.

The rollers can push deeper into your back, and you can adjust the intensity of the rollers from very gentle to deep tissue. 3D massage chairs are ideal for households with multiple users, as everyone can easily find the perfect intensity to suit their personal preferences.

All of our brand-name massage chairs feature a specific number of automatic programs. These programs combine specific, highly recommended massage techniques in an optimal sequence and duration.

The built-in automatic shut-off feature ends a massage session after approximately 15 minutes (recommended massage time). Programs for the neck and shoulder area, the entire back, and the lumbar region are just a few of the available massage programs. Selecting a specific program determines the focus of the massage on the massage chair. The massage then primarily—though not exclusively—targets the selected area.

During the tapping and loosening massage, the back is tapped from the neck to the tailbone using special movements of the massage mechanism. The movement is designed to mimic the loosening effect produced by the edges of the hands. With this massage technique as well, the speed can be adjusted to suit individual preferences. The specific area of the back being treated can also be customized according to your preferences.

Effect:
The tapping massage helps relax the muscles and tissues. Existing tension in individual muscle groups can be relieved by the steady tapping motions. Tension and other discomforts are often caused by nerve endings that are pinched between the individual vertebrae.

Relaxing the affected areas can help expose the nerve endings again, thereby reducing the pain or even making it disappear completely.

A contraindication is generally a factor (e.g., age, certain pre-existing conditions, injuries, etc., but also conditions such as pregnancy) that precludes a specific diagnostic or therapeutic measure (e.g., the administration of a medication). This means that, for example, a medication may no longer be taken due to an existing contraindication or, in our case, that one should not use a massage chair.

Contraindications for Using a Massage Chair: Examples

You should refrain from using a massage chair in the following cases:

• In the case of an infectious skin disease
• For recent fractures, sprains, or bruises
• If there are open, unhealed wounds in the area to be massaged
• In case of acute fever or severe discomfort
• Under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medications that impair consciousness
• If you weigh more than 150 kg
• If you are prone to seizures
• In cases of brain damage or following brain surgery
• Immediately after chemotherapy or radiation therapy

In the following cases, you should consult your doctor before using a massage chair and pay close attention to how your body reacts during the massage:

• For epilepsy or similar seizure disorders
• For thrombosis and venous disorders
• For moderate to severe scoliosis
• In cases of osteoporosis
• In the case of spinal trauma
• During an acute gout attack
• In the case of a high-risk pregnancy
• In the case of autoimmune diseases

In some of the cases mentioned, a massage can be very helpful; in others, certain types of massage should be avoided if necessary.

Air cushions are located in the leg and seat areas of the massage chair. Thanks to their tremendous flexibility, they adapt individually to the contours of the body. A compressor—which is concealed inside the massage chair and invisible from the outside—pumps air into the air chambers, which in turn apply pressure to the calves. This creates a treatment similar to lymphatic drainage. In the seat area, inflating the individual air chambers creates gentle and relaxing wave-like movements. The intensity of the air pressure can also be adjusted manually on most models.

Effect:

Air pressure or air massage can be compared to lymphatic drainage. Blood and other fluids that have pooled in the legs are gently pushed upward, which helps promote natural blood circulation. Regular use can actively prevent thrombosis.

Our various massage chair models offer numerous other massage types that can be described as combinations and extensions of those listed.

Blood vessels supply blood, while lymph vessels remove interstitial fluid. The two systems complement each other. If the lymphatic system is impaired, swelling occurs because interstitial fluid is not adequately drained. Swelling is particularly common after injuries and surgeries, but it also occurs in many vascular diseases.

Medical professionals refer to this symptom as “edema” or, more specifically, “lymphedema.” Through lymphatic drainage, the physical therapist stimulates the body’s natural lymphatic function, allowing interstitial fluid to be drained more effectively. The most important principle of lymphatic drainage is a gentle massage technique. The term “manual lymphatic drainage” (MLD) refers to the basic massage; “complex physical decongestive therapy” includes additional steps.

During a roller massage or stretching massage, the massage chair’s rollers move up and down along the entire back, following the spine. The distance between the rollers and the spine can be adjusted to suit individual preferences. The flexibility of the massage rollers ensures that they do not run directly over the spine, but instead move along a path parallel to it.

Effect:

Roller massage plays a crucial role among the various types of massage. As the rollers move up and down, the spine is stretched and relieved of pressure. Furthermore, pressure is relieved from the intervertebral discs. The movement of the vertebral bodies during stretching allows the body’s own fluid to flow back into the intervertebral discs, thereby restoring their shock-absorbing function.

It has been proven that regularly relieving pressure on the spine can clearly prevent more than 50% of all back problems.

Which track is better?

Simply put, an L-track is an extension of the S-track and can massage more areas of your body. Massage chairs with an S-track design are slightly less expensive, but they don’t provide as much coverage. If you’re looking for a massage chair that targets your lower back, hamstrings, or glutes, you should choose an L-track model.

The most important component of a massage chair is the massage rollers. There are three categories: 2D, 3D, and 4D.

In 2D mode, the rollers move in two directions: up and down in one dimension, and right and left in the other—for example, for a shoulder massage.

The 3D function also includes a depth adjustment of up to 12 cm. This results in two effects: a significantly more intense massage in the neck and back. This function also allows you to control the depth and thus adjust the massage intensity.

Furthermore, when using 4D, the speed can be adjusted to create an extremely pleasant massage effect that mimics a natural hand massage.

The "Zero Gravity" position—known in German as the weightlessness position—was developed by NASA's research department for astronauts who spend long periods of time in a state of weightlessness.

The spine is in a neutral position, which reduces pressure on the joints, muscles, and lower back. Because zero-gravity recliners distribute body weight in an ideal way, pressure points and muscle tension are reduced.
